Flowers
Are handpicked by trained farmers (Each feddan needs about 50 workers to collect its yield per day. The collected flowers should have a stem not exceeding 2cm in length. The flower should be fully mature. The flowers are then dried in wooden bins of 100 x 100 x 15cm which are stacked one over the other. Each bin’s floor is covered with Hessian cloth or Kraft paper to absorb the moisture. The setting of the bins allows the movement of air in a way to allow the drying of the flowers without direct exposure to the sun. Each bin carries about 1-2 kg of fresh flowers.

Each batch needs 6-10 days for drying. After drying, the flowers are then sifted and hand selected to ensure elimination of any foreign particles. The process also eliminates the disintegrated flowers and keeps only the whole flowers which are intact. Chamomile flowers are cultivated in 3 main regions in Egypt. Fayoum, Beni Souef and Assiout.
Pollen

Disintegrated Flowers are mechanically sieved to separate the pollen from the rest of the plant. The pure pollen is referred to as the tubular flowers and is used to make the most superior quality of chamomile tea. Specific Weight of this product is very important depending on Packers specifications. The required specific weight is achieved by mixing chamomile seeds with pollen.
